In February 25, 2009 an article I wrote on simplifying charts was published by the National Guitar Workshop. Here is a link to the posting by National Guitar Workshop and a link to the PDF. The basic premise is that knowledge of music theory and chord construction can make playing along with charts on the fly quite a bit easier. It also shows that moving bass lines can become a bit more transparent by simply changing the chord names.
